Where to find all the entry requirements you need to travel to Europe

Where to find all the entry requirements you need to travel to Europe

Last updated on 8 August 2022

This article was published on 16 May 2022. Travel restrictions are subject to change, so always check the updated rules on official government tourism websites before booking your trip.

After more than two years, travel restrictions in the summer of 2022 are lifting as EU countries look to revive their tourism industry. However, even though tourists are once more welcome to travel, there are still some restrictions in place, so it’s important to always check the European entry requirements before you even book your flight.

But where do you start? One common concern that we hear from travellers is that many actually don’t know where to find the travel requirements in the first place. This leads to a lot of passengers being denied boarding because they didn’t have all the requirements on hand.

Plus, there are questions such as, do you need to be vaccinated to travel? Do children need to be vaccinated to travel? Do you need to wear masks, and if so, what kind of mask should you wear?

To answer all of these questions, we’ve put together a list of resources so that you can be sure that you have everything that you need to have a stress-free flight.

France

France currently allows vaccinated travellers to enter the country, provided that they can provide proof of vaccination or a certificate of recovery. They may also allow visitors who can prove they have a medical reason for not being vaccinated to enter.

The current entry rules may vary, however, depending on the risk classification of the country where you are traveling from. Travellers coming from the EU, as well as several other countries designated as “green” countries need to be vaccinated or recovered to enter, while countries or territories designated as “orange” may have additional restrictions.

If you are unvaccinated and come from a green country, you do not have to quarantine, provided that you can provide a negative test result, but if you are coming from an orange country, you must provide a compelling reason to enter France and be subject to random testing upon arrival. Travellers who test positive will have to quarantine.

The end of Covid-19 travel restrictions

In many ways, Europe entry requirements are on their way out, and many countries have already lifted all restrictions.

So if you are wondering “Where can I travel this summer?”, Europe is the place to be! Just be sure to still exercise caution and be careful when traveling. And don’t forget, with more people traveling, there are also more chances you may experience a flight delay or cancellation. Be sure to always check your compensation and to know your rights as an air passenger.

Did you also know that you can claim for delayed, canceled, or overbooked flights from up to 3 years ago? AirHelp is here to help you check if your flight is eligible — it’s quick, easy, and totally risk-free! Get started with your claim now.

85% of passengers don't know their rights. Don't be one of them.
