Top 5 in airline on-time performance

By Jaqueline Junginger・Last updated on 25 March 2024

Prices aside, when it comes to choosing an airline, on-time performance is one of the two main factors that influence passengers’ decisions, the other being customer care. After all, it’s not always about having the most luxurious cabins or the fanciest food. Punctuality matters because being able to reach a destination quickly is arguably the main reason why travelers fly in the first place.

That’s why we’ve analyzed our latest airline punctuality data to find the top performers — and you’d be surprised at the results!

5. Royal Jordanian

On-time score: 8.6/10

Beating 78 other entries to rank as the world’s fifth most punctual airline, Royal Jordanian is a well-established airline that’s been flying for over 60 years.

The royal in their name is not just for show — the airline had their start by actual royal decree when King Hussein bin Talal named them the national carrier of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Back then, they were known as Alia Royal Jordanian Airlines, named after the king’s eldest child, the Princess Alia bint Al Hussein. They then changed their name to their current one after privatization in the early 2000s.

4. Avianca

On-time score: 8.7/10

Established 104 years ago in sunny Colombia, Avianca is the second oldest commercial airline in the world after the Dutch KLM. This wealth of experience allowed them to build a massive and truly efficient flight network, serving over 108 destinations around the world with access to over 1,300 airports.

3. Garuda Indonesia

On-time score: 9/10

Garuda Indonesia is a true survivor. In the early 2000s, the airline almost went under due to financial and operational difficulties. But like a phoenix — or should we say a garuda — the company rapidly modernized, overhauling their entire fleet, services, and brand identity in just under 5 years in a bid to make themselves more competitive.

All this hard work has paid off, because it earned them international awards for best cabin crew and most improved airline. And now, with a truly impressive on-time performance, they’re one of the most punctual in the world — no operational difficulties here!

2. Oman Air

On-time score: 9.3/10

Multi-award winning airline, Oman Air, pride themselves on providing impeccable service and are famed for their excellent first and business class experiences. This attention to detail has earned them over 90 awards and accolades through the years, dominating in categories such as design, customer care, and amenities.

On top of having great in-flight service, they’re punctual too! According to the latest AirHelp Score, Oman Air pushed their way to the top to become the most on-time airline in Asia.

1. Eurowings
